Welcome Vera Butschi |
Vera Butschi is living with a family in western Kenya for three months and volunteering with the Ileho Community Centre for Social Services. We will be posting occasional letters and photos from her about her work and her adventures during her first trip to Africa. Vera also invites you to email her directly.

My name is Vera, I am 20 years old and I am from Switzerland. From mid April to mid July, I am going to work with the ICCSS as a volunteer, being hosted by a guest family. During these three months, I'll report my experiences and put them together with some pictures on the ICCSS website. About me: After exams with main lesson in arts and pedagogue (education), I worked for one year in a home with children. This year, after coming back from Kenya, I am going to study social work. I have been leading scouts now for over five years. I like to spend my free time in nature, taking pictures or hiking. Other hobbies are doing arts and organizing concerts. For a long time it has been my dream to go to Africa. I always have been interested in different cultures. I admire Africans because they are strong. My motivation is to help, to inspire people who might have had less luck than me in their lives. I want to give them a new power. I am sure that this will be a wonderful exchange and a great experience for me! |
